Driving around Yellowstone

24/08/2013

GETTING LOST IN YELLOWSTONE IS ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE ACTIVITIES

I think I remember reading that visitors to Yellowstone only cover 5% of the park's actual area, but that 5% totally blew me away. We followed the main roads and did something like a figure eight to try to hit as many spots as we could, but the drive itself was such a lovely distraction! Between the occasional wandering bison and the breathtaking vistas (that last picture is where we stopped for lunch), it's a miracle we managed to leave the park at all!
The temperatures varied wildly between one stop and another, reminding us just how vast and varied the park is. Therefore, remember to pack many layers so you can take off or add what's appropriate!

Check out more pictures of Oregon's coastline and beaches, the Rogue River, Crater Lake, Mt Hood, the Grand Tetons and the packing guide!
